When you enroll in the UCT English Language Centre (ELC), you join an international community of students who have chosen to expand their cultural, academic and professional horizons by learning English with the top University in Africa – the University of Cape Town.

We offer year-round courses in General English at all levels, from beginner to advanced; Business English; and Exam Preparation courses for IELTS and Cambridge ESOL Exams. We also offer a unique experiential learning programme called Language Excursions as well as private lessons – online and face-to-face.

At ELC we use a student-centred approach to teaching and learning, putting the students’ language learning needs at the heart of what we do.

You may start classes on any Monday and book for as many weeks as you need. Students may choose to attend 20, 25 or 30 lessons per week in a friendly and supportive environment.
